Is a TikTok share worth more than a like?

What a share signals

On TikTok, sharing is the action that carries a video outside the audience that already found it. A person who shares is putting the video in front of people who do not follow you.

That is the signal the number describes. It is worth stating the limit plainly: a share count on your video does not itself deliver the video to new people. The count is a reading of movement, not the movement.

Anyone selling shares as "guaranteed reach" is promising distribution, and distribution is TikTok's decision from signals it does not publish.

What a like signals

Approval, read in place. It is the cheaper number and the one that matters at the moment someone is deciding whether to keep watching or scroll.

Between the two, likes are the conservative choice and shares are the one that matches a video you believe travels.
